Ag in the Classroom by EB829

On March 24th, Miss H's World Famous Fourth Grade Class went to a lesson about Agriculture. Agriculture is about working on a farm. Bill Queasly and Kevin Connelly were the speakers. We learned that an average cow weighs 1500 pounds. Bill said the heaviest cow is probably 3,000 pounds! They feed cows alfalfa, corn, and beans mix. When a calf is born it weighs more than a 4th grader, 80 pounds! After calves drink their mothers milk for awhile, they eat this dried up milk like left over cheese and yogurt for about 60 days. People come to their farms and take a sample of the cows milk and bring it to the machine that tests it. They test it because there might be some medicine like penicillin in the milk. Our class thought it was fun.
